Special Projects
At times I pursue special projects away from my regular styles and materials. Sometimes I'll create a series for a particular purpose, as with my series for the Virginia Garden Club. And as a way to repurpose and recycle history, I also paint local flowers and birds on historic slates. People use these both outdoors and indoors, enjoying the texture of the stone and the natural feel of the piece of art.
Green Birch Forest
My historic slates come from churches around the Tidewater region of Virginia that have replaced their historic roofs and have allowed me to paint on them. It's a great way to repurpose history into something beautiful. All slates have been sealed with indoor/outdoor sealer and can be used outdoors gently.
