In the process of this painting, I realized I wasn’t following my guidance from my soul, but instead a preconceived image. When I get to a place like that when I’m painting, I stop. Often what I say to myself is, “Rethink it!” When I step back, allow my gut to lead the process, the results are always more inspiring.
